Local transport

Getting aroundYonago

Use local buses, the JR Sakai Line, the Daisen Loop Bus, airport buses, and taxi/rental cars to move smoothly between Yonago, Kaike, Sakaiminato, and Daisen.

Quick answer

Yonago Station is the hub. The Kaike Line bus reaches the onsen, the JR Sakai Line yokai trains reach Sakaiminato, and the Daisen Loop Bus reaches the mountain on weekends and holidays. For late nights, off-weekend Daisen, or multi-stop days, add a taxi or rental car. Schedules vary, so confirm same-day services officially.

Ways to get around

Local buses: Nihon Kotsu and Hinomaru

Yonago-area local buses are run by Nihon Kotsu and Hinomaru, linking Yonago Station with Kaike Onsen, Yodoe, and Daisen. The Kaike Line connects the station and the onsen town—the main car-free link. Confirm routes and times officially.

JR Sakai Line: the yokai trains to Sakaiminato

The JR Sakai Line links Yonago and Sakaiminato stations and is famous for its GeGeGe no Kitaro yokai-themed trains, with yokai nicknames at the stations. It is the most direct and atmospheric car-free way to Mizuki Shigeru Road. Check JR for times.

Toward Daisen: the loop bus ended; use sightseeing taxi and local buses

The former Daisen Loop Bus has been discontinued. Car-free access to Daisen now relies on Tottori's 'Daisen foothills secondary transport' (sightseeing taxi and similar) plus seasonal local buses. Check the current official options, routes, and fares before you go.

Airport bus: Yonago Kitaro Airport

Yonago Kitaro Airport has connecting buses toward Yonago Station and Sakaiminato, and the JR Sakai Line stops at the adjacent airport station. Confirm times and flight-matching on the airport's official access page.

Taxi and rental car: cover the gaps buses leave

For late arrivals to Kaike, off-weekend Daisen, evenings, or multi-stop chains, a taxi or rental car best fills public-transport gaps. For winter Daisen especially, driving is advised—watch snow conditions.

Before you go

Check Daisen transport and seasonal services

Secondary transport to Daisen changes (the loop bus ended; now sightseeing taxi and seasonal buses), with limited weekday options. Check official same-day operation and fares before planning Daisen or multi-stop days.

Last buses and late arrivals

Buses between Kaike and the city have a last departure. For late arrivals or after-dinner moves, check the last bus and switch to a taxi if needed.
